2015 · XVI

On 26–27 June 2015, the sixteenth Kilkim Žaibu returned to its native Semigallia. After five years in Varniai, the festival moved to the shores of Žvelgaičių Lake in Žagarė, that year’s Lithuanian Capital of Culture. Returning to our roots, Baltic brotherhood and the meeting of past and present were the central themes of these two days and nights.

The musical programme brought together Triptykon, Skyforger, Bölzer, Skylė and other performers from a range of genres. A particular highlight was the return of Angis after eleven years of silence, with the original line-up from their album “Praeities ženklai”. There were changes along the way: Belgium’s Enthroned replaced Legion of the Damned, who could not attend for personal reasons. Folk music, Baltic warfare, crafts and living history groups from Lithuania and neighbouring countries formed the heart of the historical programme.

The move to Žagarė gave us greater freedom to choose the festival’s food and drink suppliers. Together with the Dundulis brewers, we introduced the first official Kilkim Žaibu beer, an amber ale made from ingredients grown in Lithuania. Reusable cups with a deposit scheme reflected our wish to care for the environment and create a festival atmosphere of our own.
