Referred to as legendary, the Finnish folk metal band ENSIFERUM will celebrate the Midsummer with the heavy music fans in Lithuania at KILKIM ŽAIBU festival. This will be their first show at a metal festival held in the Baltic States.
Titled as kings of folk metal, the Finns really know how to get things rolling. Rest assured they will definitely meet all of their audience expectations on our big stage near Lake Lėnas this summer as well.
The wild quintet has already been to Lithuania a few times, but this will be their first time at KILKIM ŽAIBU. What also makes their addition to the lineup historically important is that the festival has already hosted other major Finnish metal bands – FINNTROLL and KORPIKLAANI. ENSIFERUM is the final piece of this grade of metal to be added to the collection.
Their works go far beyond Finnish polkas entwined with metal riffs – they’re also about fiery Viking hymns and fighting spirit. Their energy and ability to tell epic stories about the deeds of their ancestors through music mesmerize music fans all over the world.
The Finns have produced eight studio albums and their most recent one, titled Thalassic, was released in 2020. What makes it really special for the band is that this is the first ENSIFERUM album, dedicated to the sea. Although they haven’t gotten far from their usual sound, the entire content of
this work tells stories of fighting the element of water, spending a life sailing the seas, and related legends.
ENSIFERUM is a frequent guest at the major metal festivals all over the world, such as Wacken, where they have played on one of the big stages. So, there’s no doubt they will get the best time on KILKIM ŽAIBU Perkūnas stage as well.
On 21-23 June, the same stage will also host other global metal stars like CARPATHIAN FOREST, MY DYING BRIDE, and many others. The festival audience will enjoy a lineup of more than 30 names, ranging from jolly folk music to the darkest of black metal.
The rest breaks between gigs will feature a medieval tournament and glimpses into the ancient Lithuanian lifestyle in the crafts yard, a test of agility and strength in Viking football, and much more, served and delivered by the festival team.
