Meet KILKIM ŽAIBU XIX bands one more time!

As we are already counting the last days until the festival, we decided to dig some information about this year‘s lineup. The bands are versatile, so we found various facts as well, and simply couldn‘t resist sharing them with you.

I AM MORBID. When vocalist David Vincent left the band in 1995 he joined his then wife’s band The Genitorturers. Vincent’s wife, Gen Torturer was a dominatrix and piercer in addition to fronting the band and their gigs would feature on stage piercing, flogging, bondage and burlesque with a lot of exposed skin. Thankfully Vincent kept his clothes on.

Music from album „Covenant“ were put on heavy rotation by MTV, and appeared on the television show „Beavis and Butt-head.

MYRKUR.The newest Myrkur‘s album was acknowledged as the album of the year in „Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2018“ awards. To some purpose – „Marerdidt“ had been inspired by long lasting artist‘s nightmares. The musician states that after finishing the album her sleeping quality increased.

NOKTURNAL MORTUM. We have one more awarded band in our list – album „Істина“ was announced as 2017‘s best album by Ukrainian Metal Music awards.By the way, it is worth mentioning that the band had worked not only with one of the most famous labels “Nuclear Blast”, but with Lithuanian “Ledo Takas Records” as well!

THYRFING. One of the Finntroll’s guys once said: “We sound like THYRFING, but they do it with class”.Thyrfing concerts are extremely rare and in accurately selected events.

PHRENETIX. This year the band has an honor to represent Lithuania in Wacken Metal Battle in Germany.

IGNEA. This is the first Ukrainian band to record a song with full symphonic orchestra. This song, „Alga“, is dedicated to Crimean Ukrainian people.

FINNTROLL. Visor omSlutet (English: Songs about the End). This album was recorded in January 2003, in a forest cabin near Helsinki. Shortly before the release of Visor omSlutetRaimoranta died, because he fell off a bridge in Helsinki. Founding member and original vocalist, Jan "Katla" Jämsen, had to retire from the band due to a viral-based tumor in his vocal cords which could not be surgically removed. Now, there is no founding member in the band. Finntroll is given a reference in the animated metal cartoon Metalocalypse as the name of a grocery store.Finntroll's lyrics are mostly in Swedish. Finntroll's original singer, Katla, decided to use Swedish over Finnish since he was part of a Swedish-speaking minority in Finland and the sound of the language seemed to better suit the band's "trollish" outfit.

WHITE WARD. It is one of the few metal bands that extensively uses saxophone in their songs.

HAVUKRUUNU. The band sings only in their native language – Finnish. However, many reviewers say that language is not a barrier for them to convey the right emotion and atmosphere.

THE AEON. Band members come from Oulu – a town which is located almost in the Polar circle.

JORYJ KŁOC. In their newest album „Kora“ JoryjKłoc recorded a few Lithuanian folk songs.
