TOWARDS THE SINISTER

When a blank sheet of paper says more than an entire book...
Although TOWARDS THE SINISTER only emerged this year, the immediate associations are unmistakable. Behind the name, borrowed from MY DYING BRIDE's very first demo, stand four-fifths of the band's original line-up: vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe, guitarist Calvin Robertshaw, bassist Ade Jackson, and drummer Rick Miah. Not something newly created, but something reborn – to pay tribute and return to the roots.
TOWARDS THE SINISTER represents the absolute beginnings of death/doom – the genre's golden era, when death metal slowed down and developed a gloomy, yet no less ferocious and oppressive sound. True, slow, painful and crushing death, conveyed through boundless melancholy, massive guitar riffs, the interplay of clean and growling vocals, and Aaron's unmistakable voice...
This is the music that shaped the defining characteristics of doom metal and secured its place in the history of heavy music forever.
TOWARDS THE SINISTER makes no promises of new material or modern approaches. Quite the opposite – the entire focus is on the early MY DYING BRIDE catalogue, featuring songs from As the Flower Withers, Turn Loose the Swans, The Angel and the Dark River, and Like Gods of the Sun.
An immortal cult, brought back to life by the very hands of its creators and architects...!
