SATURNALIA TEMPLE

If your playlist perpetually plays such bands as Electric Wizard, Sleep or Dopethrone, SATURNALIA TEMPLE should become your favorites of the festival. Their music is a concentrated Stoner/Doom with a light extra of Black Metal. It is a spaced-out depression, sinking into one‘s veins with the speed of a snail. Like venom, it spreads through the body to the brain and leaves you breathless. Riffs that are repeated for millions of times are on the verge of sadomasochism. However, it just creates a taintless atmosphere of a dark ritual.
SATURNALIA TEMPLE was born in 2006 in Stockholm and now has one original member left – Tommie Eriksson. Tommie is exclusive because his music is formed on a deep basis of long studies – he is a published writer and holds lectures on magical and occult arts. Perhaps it is one of the reasons why his music is so mesmerizing, deep and is loved not only by Doomsters and Stoners, but also by Death and Black metal fans. The band also contains of another long-lived member – bassist Peter, who joined the band in 2008 and contributed much to two excellent full-length albums and two EPs. In 2013 band became a duo – a permanent drummer had left, so now they work with Tim Call, who is a session drummer and live drummer in US and Kennet Granholm in Europe. By the way, we will see Kennet in the festival too, because just recently he became a full member!
SATURNALIA TEMPLE records their creation in their own studio Sitra Ahra, which is surrounded by mysterious Uppsala forests. Harmony with nature enhances the sensation of magical springs. At the moment, the band can be proud of six releases of their creation. Rumors say that already in their debut demo “UR” they managed to curve such chords that would make Sunn0))) proud or beautify a pagan fertility ritual. In their full-length albums “Aion of Drakon” and “To the Other” SATURNALIA TEMPLE has improved even more: thick bass lines, fuzzy guitars, woozy vocals and sinister occult atmosphere mixed with cannons of heavy Stoner. In their concerts music bleeds out of speakers and paints whole area red. In this bloody Walpurgis night at the side of Lūkstas lake there surely be some of those, who will sell their soul to the devil, or at least to this magnificent band.
