Established at the end of 1996, the long standing Lithuanian alternative rock band MOUNTAINSIDE is well known for its’ original and unorthodox style. And they don't seem to stop. They are constantly looking for the new horizons of guitar music. Succinctly describing their style as ‘diverse heavy rock’, the band is surprising the audience with unexpected musical twists and creative approaches, but never completely breaking away from their roots – punk/metal/rock.
MOUNTAINSIDE was repeatedly nominated in the category of the best rock group at various Lithuanian alternative music awards, and in 2018, after releasing the album ‘Hidden In Light’, the group was nominated in the category of the ‘Rock Group of the Year’ at M.A.M.A. awards – the Lithuanian answer to Grammy.
During its existence, MOUNTAINSIDE released the EP ‘Distorted’ (2002) and three full-lengths – ‘All About Time’ (2007), ‘Solitary, Poor, Nasty, Brutish, and Short’ (2013), ‘Hidden In Light’ (2018, LP - 2019).
Currently the band is working on the new album. The first single with video ‘Parco Urbano (There Are Other Exits)’ was released in 2023. The second single ‘Splash! The Randomizing Demonizer’ was released in the beginning of 2024.
MOUNTAINSIDE has played hundreds of concerts in live music venues in Lithuania and abroad, and the biggest Lithuanian rock and heavy music festivals. The band shared the stage with such groups as ‘New Model Army’, ‘Entombed’, ‘Dismember’, ‘VoiVod’, ‘Tito and Tarantula’, ‘Cult of Luna’, ‘Bix’ and other known names.
It’s another band that feels like it has played in KILKIM ŽAIBU in a different lifetime – 24 years ago. Naturally, both the band and the festival are way different now. It’s nice to see the paths cross again.
