    MESSA

    Doom Metal, Rock | Italy

A gothic-tinged rhythmic section enriching an atmospheric and psychedelic doom metal foundation - the new MESSA album truly leaves a strong impression. In several polls, The Spin recognized it as one of the most interesting releases of 2025, while visitors to the Metal Archives encyclopedia rated the record as the best release of last year. Is MESSA the new flagship of the Italian scene?

The collective was born from the visions of two individuals, without any clear musical backbone. Gradually, the creative process emerged through feelings, visual associations, explorations, and dark rituals. As a result, the band’s music flows into a unified mass of doom, jazz, ambient, and rock, carrying listeners into unknown spaces and experiences.

With each step, MESSA’s music takes on new forms and perspectives. Dark, strangely warm and melancholic rock gives way to thick, heavy guitars; sonic experiments add an air of mystery, and ultimately everything is crowned by the witch-like velvet voice and presence of vocalist Sara.

Just five years ago we were still searching for epithets and comparisons to describe MESSA’s music. Today the band rests in the embrace of the publishing giant Metal Blade Records, and serves as a guiding star for those seeking their own path among the layers of dark, deep, and majestic guitar sound.
