Melodic death metal veterans MANDRAGORA will be celebrating three decades of activity in a few years. Although the band’s lineup has changed almost completely over that time, this has had virtually no impact on its musical direction. Led by the immortal spirit of the band’s founder and songwriter Rimas, MANDRAGORA continues to follow the trajectory of melodic and heavy music.
Influenced by the Scandinavian death metal movement, MANDRAGORA has stood out since its earliest recordings for its heavy yet highly melodic sound, first captured on the now cult-status demo releases “MCMXCIX” and “Posthumous Art.” And while the band can hardly be called prolific - with only three full-length albums in its catalog - throughout its entire history it has maintained its distinctive and well-recognized identity. Keeping pace with the times, that identity has taken on a somewhat more modern, yet more balanced and subtle, оттенок.
Having successfully withstood all the trials of time, MANDRAGORA today is a collective of experienced musicians who continue to faithfully pursue their chosen path of melodic death metal - carefully crafting new songs, recording a fresh album, and still gladly performing live.
