The ferocious IMPALED NAZARENE stand as one of Finland’s true Black Metal legends! One of the most recognisable names; the long-time ace of the mighty Osmose Productions; a beast of fast, uncompromising metal that dared to challenge Norway’s black metal scene in the early ’90s. Over their long career, IMPALED NAZARENE have always delivered aggressive, raw music – often described simply as black’n’roll.
In their pursuit of ever more extreme forms of expression, the Finns freely draw on grindcore, thrash, and death-metal traits, with lyrics spanning war, national pride, aggression, violence, and even religious themes. More than once, IMPALED NAZARENE were criticised by their opponents, accused of blasphemy or portrayed as villains in ideological disputes. The musicians themselves have always enjoyed the freedom of expression and simply delivered dirty, fast, and massive black metal.
Today, thanks to their varied influences and their taste for harsh yet relatively straightforward music, IMPALED NAZARENE are sometimes labelled a hardcore punk act. Seriously!?
