CLOAK

It would probably not be too far off the mark to describe CLOAK as a modern black metal band. Their sound blends elements of doom, gothic, and heavy metal into a cohesive, melodic, and atmospheric world of darkness. Ranging from spacious and subtle to forceful yet polished, the Atlanta-based Americans have already immortalized their music across three full-length studio albums.
Drifting between the cold, dreamlike riffs of black metal, CLOAK explore themes of spirituality, stereotypes, and the meaning of life and death, seeking an optimal balance while placing the idea of absolute freedom of thought at the forefront. Refusing to subscribe to either extreme or commit to a single truth, CLOAK boldly give the finger to convention and forge their own path. Although their music is often compared to bands from the Swedish scene, the Americans are never afraid to experiment, incorporating gothic mystery and a touch of psychedelia to create a harmonious, carefully crafted blend of diverse genre influences.
A few years ago, the band signed a deal with Metal Blade Records, who are still awaiting the first fruits of this partnership. Despite CLOAK’s intensive and fairly frequent touring schedule and other live commitments, we can be confident that the Americans’ forthcoming album will deliver an intriguing, subtly grotesque, and high-quality gem of atmospheric sound.
