BIX

Punk Rock | Lithuania

These news hit us like a thunderbolt from a clear sky, but we are delighted to announce that the legendary titans of Lithuanian rock, the band BIX, will perform on the KILKIM ŽAIBU stage!

BIX is one of the most prominent and daring Lithuanian rock bands, born in the Šiauliai underground scene in 1987. The band's music is an explosive mix of rock, punk, folk, and ska. Their energetic performances and charismatic leader Saulius Urbonavičius-Samas helped BIX gain popularity, and albums like "Akli kariai" and "Wor's" became classics of Lithuanian rock. BIX is known for their socially engaged lyrics, condemning societal flaws, and prompting listeners to think.

BIX left an indelible mark on the Lithuanian alternative music scene, constantly pushing creative boundaries and boldly experimenting with music. From 1989 to 1995, the group spent more time performing abroad, including an 8-month tour in the USA, but they maintained a connection with Lithuanian audiences. In the 90s, the group underwent changes: abandoning wind instruments, their music became heavier and turned towards rock, but the unique BIX sound remained. The group actively participated in Lithuanian cultural and social projects, and their songs became an integral part of television and radio.

The history of BIX is impressive. Legendary festivals like "Lituanika," "Roko maršas," "Berlin Independence Days," when the Berlin Wall fell, and many others. In 1989, the group performed in Germany alongside the legendary Nirvana. An award for the best music video in Cannes, five "Bravo" statues, and numerous other prestigious awards. In 2022, the group celebrated its 35th anniversary and was awarded the M.A.M.A prize for its contribution to Lithuanian music.

Today, BIX continues its turbulent journey, having recorded a new album "BIX RAY," filming a documentary about the band's history, and continuing its concert activities. And at the KILKIM ŽAIBU festival, the group promises to bring an even heavier and darker side, which will undoubtedly shake the audience to its core.
